The Rev. Canon Mark Hall
After serving in the position of Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of San Joaquin for three years as Canon, Mark retired in March 2011 after 35 years of ordained ministry. He has had as he describes it "a spotty career." During his life, he has been an insurance underwriter, an Air Force Navigator,and chaplain assistant to the President of the University of Maine. , served parishes in Maine Washington, and California, taught part time at several colleges, and was a full-time high school teacher for five years. After serving as rector of St. Anne's in Stockton for seven years, he was appointed Canon to the Ordinary by Bishop Lamb during the rebuilding of the diocese after the December 2007 diocesan debacle.
When he was rector of St. Anne's in Stockton, Canon Mark and Susan attended Stephen Ministry leaders training, and began Stephen Ministry at St. Anne's in conjunction with St. Paul's Methodist Church in Stockton.
Since retiring, he rebuilt a Thomas Colvin designed nine ton traditional schooner and sailed to Mexico and back in 2015.
That same year, Susan (a retired RN) and Mark moved to Oceano. In the area resides two of their five children and three grandchildren. The other three children and three additional grandchildren reside in Washington State.
Canon Mark Hall helps coordinate Stephen Ministry in San Luis Obispo County that includes Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, and congregational churches.
Canon Mark's ministry at St. Paul's began on February 16, 2020.
