Palm Sunday is the Christian Church’s celebration of
Jesus’ triumphant return to Jerusalem before His Passion. It is St. Paul’s Parish tradition to decorate the church with palm fronds and to make palm crosses for the parishioners. Before the service, members of the congregation may meet in the Parish Hall for the blessing of the palms. Then everyone will process following the cross into the church, just as the crowds followed Jesus into Jerusalem.

The Lord’s Passion, the Gospel for Palm Sunday, will be
read by members of the congregation. The vestments and
paraments for Palm Sunday are red or scarlet representing
the color of blood and Christ’s ultimate sacrifice.
Entry of Christ into Jerusalem(1320) by Pietro Lorenzetti: entering the city on a donkey symbolizes arrival in peace, rather than as a war-waging king arriving on a horse.
It was the custom in biblical times for people to cover the path of someone who was held in high esteem. In the book of John, he specifically mentions palms as a sign of triumph and victory.
12The next day the great crowd that had come to the festival heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord---the King of Israel!” 14Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it; as it is written:15“Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion. Look, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” 16His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written of him and had been done to him. John 12:12-16
