Happy Thursday to you all. Here are your August 17, 2017 updates: No Bible Study next Wednesday. The study resumes Wednesday, August 30th. Correction: Father Brian’s degree is being conferred during the 10:30 service on Sept. 17, not the 15th. Sunday, August 20, 3 PM- Jazz concert at St. Benedict’s. Tickets 25.00 at Boo Boo Records, SLO. Marian Ross- Marian has now developed an infection and is in great pain, so please keep her in your prayers. Watercolors now on display- The needlepoint designs for our sanctuary kneelers were first painted by Priscilla Green, then hand-stitched by many of the dedicated, patient, women of St. Paul’s. Three of the four original watercolors were returned to us by Priscilla’s daughter several years ago; and are now framed and on display in the church library/chapel area. Stop by and take a peek! A big thank you to Father Brian for framing them. Lost: Old style cell phone, perhaps in sanctuary. Contact the office if found. Key shortage: Those no longer needing /using their assigned keys, please return them to the office. We seem to have a shortage and over time, they become costly to continually replace. Thanks. Sept. 23 Campus Beautification Day, 9:30 AM-Volunteers are needed to weed, rake & bag leaf litter/trimmings, prune dead blossoms, and more. Nothing too complicated or strenuous. Please bring your own rakes, gloves, pruning shears, water and sunscreen. Parishioners living in the Lodge Hill or Marine Terrace neighborhoods can also support the cause by donating space in their green waste cans the week following the clean up, and setting them out for emptying, which would save the church dump fees. A BBQ, sponsored by the Men of ABC, will be included in the day’s activities; so please commit, in advance, by calling or emailing Mary Brockman: 924-1450 or mary-brockman@att.net Senior Nutrition meals are served 5 days a week in our Parish Hall. Though donations are appreciated, NONE are required to enjoy these hot meals. My favorite pick for next week: Sliced turkey w/ gravy, stuffing, coleslaw, sweet potatoes, fresh pear, coffee and milk, on Thursday, August 24. Call 927-1268 to reserve any meals, 3 days in advance. The Cambria Community Bus delivers clients to and from our facility, Monday through Friday for lunch, so even those who no longer drive have transportation to the Parish Hall. Brain Game: How many words with four or more letters, can you make from the word “SCRIPTURE”? The number to beat is 23. How many of them have at least 5 or 6 letters? Last week’s top count went to Sue Johnson, who had well over 30 words made from “Compassionate”. Congrats, Sue ! The Embroidered Cross, shown below is the artwork of Georgianne Jackson, who presented it to Father Brian last Sunday. I think it would make a lovely Easter card cover next April! Enjoy! -MC Michelle Costa Parish Administrator St. Paul's Episcopal Church 805.927.3239 Please consider the environment. Do not print this e-mail unless you really need to.
