Dear Church Family,
This week we begin with some sad news. Our condolences to Steve Reilly, Sally, and all of Steve’s family on the passing of Steve’s mom, Marge Reilly. We have prayed for her many times over the past several years. Now we pray for her eternal peace, and that her family will be comforted as they begin their grief journey. Our deepest sympathy to all who mourn her loss.
Emergency contact correction: Please note that the correct number for pastoral emergencies is once again 1.310.913.0386. I failed to update the info on this week’s Sunday bulletin (back page).
Wow! We went through 70 copies of the NY Times article on Canada’s Syrian refugees last week! I am guessing folks may have taken extra copies to share with friends or family, which is marvelous! If anyone still needs a copy to share with others, just email or call me. I can send the file electronically so that you can share it easily with anyone you wish via the internet.
8 am Sunday volunteers: We are in need of an usher for this Sunday’s service to cover for Bud Hankins who is still on his trek. In addition, we are quite short for the first 2 or 3 weeks in August, so please bear with me if you find that you are scheduled to work back to back Sundays. ALSO: 8 am volunteer scheduler needed! One need not be an actual Sunday volunteer to serve as the coordinator. It is a task that is EASILY performed from home, as long as there is access to a computer and the internet. Typically, once every 2 months or so, the coordinator would draft a schedule after volunteers have shared their “unavailable” dates with him/her. The coordinator confers with the Parish Administrator (PA) once or twice, sends the draft schedule to the office, then the PA creates the final document and publishes it. Anyone wishing to learn more about the role can call the 10:30 Coordinator, Carol S (995-0830) to get her feedback on how it works, or call the office for more info: 927-3239.
Keeping up parish and diocesan news is as simple as visiting our own website at www.stpaulscambria.org. There you will find links to lots of resources, schedules and other important information.
A message from Digby: It is so nice to be back in the office where all the action is! Being away from Father Brian and the rest of the parish was ruff, ruff , these past three weeks. I don’t think I am barking up the wrong tree when I say St. Paul’s is one of my favorite places to hang out. I’m so glad to be back!
Editor’s note: Happy Birthday, Digby!
The office will be closing at 2:30 pm today (Thursday) and will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00 am.
Enjoy some SONshine this weekend…
