Dear Church Family,
Here are some announcements for the coming days:
Holiday Closure: The office will be closed tomorrow. In a pastoral emergency, please call Father Fred: 650-796-7073.
People on the move: Please note the following address/phone number changes for some dear people of ours:
1. Shanna Knorr (at her daughter’s house) 8785 Hihn Road, Ben Lomond, CA 95005 Phone: 831.336.5792 . Shanna is hard of hearing, so cards are preferred over phone calls, but if you’d like to call her, feel free. (Fr. Fred will be calling her on Thanksgiving Day.)
2. Ann Hardin 1612 West Wilshire Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73116 Cell phone: 415.401.5444
Correction to Oktoberfest info from last update: In an unintentional oversight, we failed to list Doug Spelts as also representing St. Paul’s on the Oktoberfest Planning Team. Many thanks for your time and effort, Doug.
Advent Meditation/Scripture Calendars: These one-sheet documents, meant to help you make the most of your Advent, are located in the sanctuary. One per household, please.
Sunday, December 1ST: Advent begins! Our ONE service begins at 9:30 a.m. Celebrant: The Rev. Don Dallmann. We will also hold our monthly birthday celebration after the service, hosted by our Hospitality Team. Many thanks to Joni Michel for all she does each month to facilitate the birthday celebration and coordinate the Hospitality Team. If you’d like to join the Hospitality Team, please let Joni know: 927-7608.
Annual Report deadline nears: All of those responsible for submitting a written report, please do so by December 15. If you think you will not have all of the info you need to write your report by then, please let me know. Late reports create several problems with formatting, and sometimes prevent important information from being included in the main document. If you aren’t sure about what may be required of you, just give me a call. Our Annual Meeting is scheduled for January19 th.
Correction, December 29 worship: The information found on Page 6 of your November newsletter, which published October 31, regarding services on December 29 are now incorrect and should be disregarded. We will now hold only ONE service on December 29, at 9:30 am. Father Carl Hansen will serve as Celebrant.
Information on Christmas Poinsettia offerings, the December 10th ECW Potluck, and December 14th Cookie Outreach is found in your December 1st Sunday bulletin. Please check for other important dates and announcements as well. (Email form below on last week's update.)

Dear Church Family,
Here are some important updates in the life of the church:
-PLEASE HELP! Recently vandalism, drinking and unauthorized use of our trash and recycling receptacles has been a problem on campus. Broken liquor bottles and beer cans have been littering our parking lot and grounds, and damage has occurred to our shrubs and garden handrails. In addition, household trash is now showing up on a regular basis in our dumpster, taking up space that the church needs for its own refuse. We have also learned that our lower parking lot was recently used to access our neighbor to the south’s property in order to steal construction materials. So…please report any suspicious activity, especially in our garden or dumpster area, to the Sheriff’s Office: 9-1-1 or 781-4540.
-TYPHOON AID: Episcopal Relief and Development is receiving donations for the Philippines. Bishop Mary is encouraging everyone to help if they can. Please follow the link: http://www.episcopalrelief.org/what-you-can-do/donate-now/individual-donation. To learn more about the Philippines: http://www.episcopalrelief.org/where-we-work/country/the-philippines. Click HERE for the Home Page: http://www.episcopalrelief.org/. Many thanks to ECW for already donating to the cause.
-DECEMBER’S FOOD DISTRIBUTION will occur December 5th, so Last Chance Sunday will be December 1st in terms of cash or food donations to the program. Many thanks to those who give to this effort.
-ECW CHRISTMAS POTLUCK IS DECEMBER 10: Episcopal Church Women will hold their annual Christmas potluck on Tuesday, December 10th noon in our Library-Chapel. Festivities will include a Christmas sing-along with Dan and Sara Blair Field, and a “white elephant” gift exchange, so warm up those vocal chords and hunt through those closets in search of the perfectly useless, no -onger needed, or funny gift item! All women of our parish are cordially invited including those who may not regularly attend the monthly ECW meetings, or those who attend church here part-time. For further info, please contact Carol Schutz: 995-0830.
-TOYS FOR TOTS COLLECTION: The collection receptacle for Toys for Tots has been delivered and is awaiting your new gifts for children ages 1-18 years.
-CONGRATULATIONS TO STEVE REILLY for his great performance in “Don’t Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell!” Many thanks to Bill Baker for organizing the theater outing for everyone. GOOD LUCK TO DON DALLMANN who is part of the cast of Miracle on 34th Street, opening Thursday, November 22 in the SLO Little Theater.
-CROAK AND DAGGER: A friendly but very shy frog has adopted St. Paul’s and can be heard serenading the office staff most evenings. For now, the little croaker remains hidden, in true croak (cloak) and dagger style. Help Father Fred and I name our little garden guest. Entries can be submitted through December 3rd.
-OKTOBERFEST FUNDS: St. Paul’s has received a check for $2,000.00 from the Oktoberfest organizers for our Outreach Program. Congratulations and sincerest thanks to parishioners Don and Barbara Dallmann and Barbara Marks and to all of the friends of St. Paul’s, for the wonderful job they have done year in and year out to make this such an enjoyable event. Additional thanks to our parish volunteers that worked the 1-day event back in October.
-CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS: Info on how to sponsor a poinsettia for our Christmas services will be included in our Sunday bulletins beginning December 1. It also appears below:
Send your offering to the office by 12/16/2013. You can submit your intentions on the form below.

Dear Church Family,
Here are your short and sweet updates for this week:
Sunday, November 17: What a busy day for our parish!
We will hold services at 8 am and 10:30 am. The outdoor service originally planned for 8 am has been moved indoors.
Following the 10:30 service’s coffee hour, we will host a presentation on elder exploitation by Crime Prevention Specialist Marsha Mann from the SLO County Sheriff’s Department. CPS Mann will be discussing elder victimization by phone scammers, caregivers and others. This is important information, so please plan on attending. The presentation will begin as close to 11:45 am as possible, and should conclude in plenty of time to attend the next activity of the day, the 3 pm theater performance at the Cambria Center for the Arts.
Thank you to Joni Michel for organizing a great brunch last Sunday. Additional thanks to everyone who turned in their pledges on time.
ECW’s toiletries drive for Grizzly Academy continues through November 30th.
The 2014 calendar collection for Bayside Care Center residents continues through February. Calendars may be brought into the office.
Arnold’s Breakfast Club will meet for its semi-monthly men’s fellowship on Thursday, November 14th, at 8 am at the Redwood Café.
Office closed Wednesday and Thursday: I will be taking the last of my earned time off this week, but will be checking messages remotely, so please leave a message and I will return the call as soon as possible. See you Sunday!
