I hope you are pleasantly plopping through the plentiful puddles!
Here are some important and time-sensitive announcements for this week:
Final “Have the Last Word” workshop, this Saturday, at 2 pm. The focus will be on Spiritual and Emotional Preparation. The issues are important, yet often overlooked. Won’t you join us?
YOU’VE GOT MAIL! Attention ushers!!!!!! Attention parishioners! This Sunday, the ushers will bring out the ushers’ cart, so that everyone can pick up some important mail from Father Brian and the Senior Warden. Make sure to check the cart before or after church for your letter.
Also this Sunday, we observe All Saints at our two services. The Bells of St. Paul’s will attend the 10:30 am service.
I have tried to completely record all of the names submitted for reading this year. If I happen to miss some, I apologize in advance. **Instructions to the ushers: please toll the bell three times, after the reading of names in the first section (Loved Ones) as well as after the reading of the names in the second (“ We also remember”) section. (These names are printed in the bulletin insert so that you may follow along.) THEN, for the third section, which will be names offered verbally only, look for a cue from Father Brian who will signal you when it is time to ring the final group of 3 bells.. I AM SENDING THIS IN THE WEEKLY UPDATE, IN CASE THE USHERS FIND SUBS FOR THEIR DUTIES THIS SUNDAY.
Last Chance Food Sunday also occurs this Sunday for next Thursday’s food distribution. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE NO PERISHABLES OR EXPIRED GOODS! That adds a lot of extra time to Leonard’s work. Thanks.
Musical Talent The Sherwoods” will perform October 30, 2016, at 4:00 pm at the Joslyn Center. The Sherwoods of Cornell, is a travelling men’s a cappella group that has been performing for over fifty years. Their performances include ballads, and a few original close-harmony vocal arrangements, often seasoned with humor. A few of their favorites: “Shenandoah” and “Moon River”. Opening for the Sherwoods is a popular women’s ensemble, “Lyra” featuring the talents of our own Rebecca Hendricks and other local performers. Lyra performs a variety of eclectic music, from Faure to The Beatles. The concert is sponsored by the Cambria Community Chorale and proceeds support the Cambria Music Scholarship Fund, which, in recent years, has awarded scholarships to Kate Hepworth’s son, Ethan, and other talented youth; so check out the show! Tickets are $10.00 each. Contact: Leonard Kohout, 203-5187 for tickets.
Grief Group meets Tuesday, November 1 at 11 am. (NEW TIME)
Choir meets Thursday at 10:30 am.
Thank you to those representing St. Paul’s at this year’s convention in Salinas: Stevely Anderson, Anne Harris Smith, Doug Wong and Father Brian. We appreciate you giving your time to this important annual event.
SIMPLE SIMON MET A PIE MAN (named Aaron) going to the…..PIE SOCIAL! On Sunday, November 6, we will hold our annual Pie Social after our 9:30 am service. Linn’s pies and Aaron Linn are part of this year’s festivities. Wonderful toppings (with some surprises) are also being planned! So please plan to join us on November 6. Also- remember you gain an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning, November 6th, when Daylight Saving Time ends!!!
Bizarre bazaar info: Flyers advertising a Christmas Bazaar were emailed to us WITHOUT the sponsoring church’s info, so, if the post in the Parish Hall caught your eye, the church sponsoring the Bazaar is St. Lukes, Atascadero.
A big shout out to my Proof Reader Extraordinaire, Lou Ann Carter! Thanks for all your help these past 7.5 years! I missed getting my drafts to you this week, but will do so next week, for sure!
Donna and Julian Crocker are showered with flowers after their wonderful performance of “Love Letters” on Opening Night last weekend. Congrats to you both!
Wishing everyone a wet and wonderful weekend!
