I am back and must say, Jeff and I had a great time on the Big Island. In the life of the church, things were busy as usual. Here is what everyone can look forward to in the near future:
Sunday, Oct 27:
-Single service, at 9:30 am, followed by our annual Pie Social.
-Last Sunday for food donations or funds to be received before next Thursday’s food giveaway. Baggers on Wednesdays are always appreciated. Call Doug: 924-1943.
-Monday, October 28: (All Saints deadline) October 28th is the last day to submit free-standing framed photos of those who have passed since November 2012. Names of those who have passed will also be read aloud during the November 3rd single service (9:30 am). Names can be submitted through October 28th also.
Saturday, November 2: DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING!! Turn your clocks back 1 hour BEFORE GOING TO BED and sleep in a bit on Sunday morning!
-November 3: All Saints Sunday
Single service at 9:30 a.m.
-And now, photos from Star of the Sea Chapel (aka Painted Church)
Kalapana, Big Island. This church, built in 1927, was moved from one location to another in the Puna/Kalapana area, just in time to save it from being covered and destroyed in a lava flow that destroyed the fishing village of Kalapana in 1990.
