As we complete our first week in August, it is truly amazing how quickly the summer has gone!
There are some very important (and even time-sensitive) announcements this week, so please note:
Saturday, August 8- Piedras Blancas Lighthouse Birthday Tours Our own Georgianne Jackson will be part of the living history docents costumed in period dress from the late 1800’s. Docents will share info on how life was at the lighthouse in its heyday. Meet at the Piedras Blancas Motel, a mile or so north of the lighthouse, before 9:45 am to purchase tickets. For more info contact Georgianne: 927-2537
Are you planning to attend Barbara Miller’s Installation, August 23 at 4 pm? We are trying to get a head count of those who are planning to attend her Celebration of a New Ministry so as to connect folks with each other who may want to carpool. Please email the office if you plan on attending, and would like to be part of a carpool. A beautiful banner for our parish, made by Donna Ross, will debut there.
Also on Sunday the 23rd- St. Ben’s annual fundraiser with Inga Swearingen, 3 pm. See the flyer in the Parish Hall.
Key found- If you are missing a key on a You’re Special keychain, it is in the parish office.
A Conversation with Angela Lansbury- Thursday, Oct 8 at Cuesta’s Performing Arts Center. The event benefits our church and begins at 7 pm. Price info to follow soon. Ms. Lansbury’s appearance is a very gracious and generous gift and we hope as many parishioners as possible will attend, and help spread the word. Stay tuned…
Saturday October 10, 9:30 am- 3:30 pm- Centering Prayer, An Introduction, will be led by The Rev. Amber Sturgess at St. Stephen’s in SLO.$25.00 suggested donation includes lunch. To register: 543-7212 or email@example.com
More info in the Parish Hall.
Many thanks to all of the Coffee Hosts who have come forward recently to help out, and to those who have been hosting our gatherings all along.. You’re all awesome!
When you hear the thanksgiving during the intercession on Sunday, think back on this photo, taken in Lake County late last week. It shows the Rocky Fire which spread into 3 counties, has burned over 70,000 acres, has 4000 firefighters on the ground and in the air battling it, and is still only 20% contained as of yesterday. The photo was taken near my sister’s home in the Clear Lake area.
Have a fire safe weekend.
