Happy Independence Day (a few days early)!
Some important news in the life of our parish and the Episcopal Church:
Sunday, July 5th: It’s Birthday Sunday and we will hold one service only, at 9:30 am.
Don Dallmann will serve as Celebrant.
Recovering: Donna Ross and Judy Olson are recovering after their surgeries on Monday. Judy is scheduled to transition to a rehab center tomorrow. Please keep them both in your prayers.
Also in our prayers:
-Jane Gibson, sister of Jim Wilson, and her husband Jack. Jane’s health issues now require her to be in a skilled nursing facility.
-Irene Jochim (pronounced Yoke-im) Many of you are familiar with Irene, even if not by name. She was the energetic little red head that ate lunch every day at our Senior Nutrition site in the Parish Hall. Last week, Irene passed away rather suddenly, at home. She was 94. Please keep Irene and the Jochim family in your prayers. No further details at this time re: her service, etc.
-Presiding Bishop Elect Michael Curry who will begin his term on November 1, replacing Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori.
Readings for Wed. July 8 Bible Study (6 pm), led by Don Dallmann: Amos 7: 7-15 / Ephesians 1: 3-14 / Mark 6: 14-29. After reading them or discussing them on Wednesday, Father Brian would love to hear your thoughts re: the scripture readings, as he prepares for his return to Cambria and develops his sermon for Sunday the 12th. Send your thoughts via his email address: firstname.lastname@example.org Here is the link to the Track II readings on the Lectionary Page online: http://www.lectionarypage.net/YearB_RCL/Pentecost/BProp10_RCL.html You can also access the readings and other important news in the life of our church at www.stpaulscambria.org
Parish Installations: Father Rob Keim started this week as rector at St. Barnabas’ in A.G. Please note that his installation is set for October 3 (no time announced yet). A reminder that Mother Barbara Miller’s installation is scheduled for August 23rd at 4 pm.
Possible office closure on Wednesday: The parish office MAY be closed on Wednesday of next week while I tend to some business regarding my mother’s return home from her SNF. If the office does in fact close, that information will be indicated on the church voice mail message. I will still be able to route emergency pastoral issues to our on call clergy, so please call my cell phone on Wednesday if the office in fact is closed that day: 805.459.8721.
Finally, best wishes to you all for a wonderful 4th of July: Let’s pray that it is a safe, fireworks-free weekend here in our dry forest community!
I hope you enjoy this rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, performed by a very special group!
