Dear Church Family,
Here are your updates for the week:
Thanks to all who helped with the Richard M. Smith Memorial service. It was beautiful from the beginning in the sanctuary to the reception in the hall afterward. I am sure Anne and family must have really been touched by the outpouring of love that day!
Saturday, June 6, we will hold a memorial service for Dale Hammer in the sanctuary at
2 pm. The family will need the Parish Hall for a brief time prior to the service, but this shouldn’t disrupt our set up for Sunday that might occur earlier in the day. Thank you to Stevely Anderson, Bill Baker and Ann Glaser for agreeing to serve as crucifer and ushers.
Sunday, June 7 Birthday Sunday! We will hold one service at 9:30 am.
Monday, June 8 Sr. Health Screening from 9:30 am until 12 noon.
Wednesday, June 10 6pm: Weekly Bible study. Your scriptures for discussion appear in this Sunday’s bulletin. For those checking the lectionary online, please note that until further notice we are now following TRACK TWO (II). http://www.lectionarypage.net/
Thursday, June 11 Men of ABC at Redwood Café at 8 am. Assembly of Vestry materials for the June 15th meeting will occur in the afternoon.
Father Brian’s summer residency in Chicago: Fr. Brian will be at the University of Chicago from June 19-July 10 working on his doctorate. In his absence we are fortunate to have: The Rev. Donna Ross, Rector Emerita, celebrating and preaching on June 21; our Pastoral Associate, The Rev. Don Dallmann celebrating and Donna preaching on July 28 and; Don celebrating and preaching on
July 5. Pastoral needs should be directed to Michelle Costa, our administrator, and pastoral emergencies will be taken care of by one of the other priests in our deanery (through Michelle). We wish Brian every success in his residency.
Stevie Green: If anyone has current contact info for Stevie Green, can you please provide the office with the information? Thanks.
Quote of the week comes from an excerpt from Denzel Washington, keynote speaker at Dillard University (NOLA) last month:
“Put God first. Everything I have is by the grace of God, understand that. It’s a gift….I didn’t always stick with Him, but he always stuck with me.”
Have a wonderful weekend!
