Dear Church Family,
As Holy Week nears, we have important information regarding parishioners and members of our extended church family, upcoming services and Father Brian’s Celebration of a New Ministry scheduled in late April. Here are your weekly updates for March 29-April 5:
Palm Sunday service: 9:30 am. The service begins in the Parish Hall. Thank you Joni Michel for coordinating Hospitality’s hosting of Coffee Hour.
While at coffee, please check the sign-up sheets on the board. We still need several Stations of the Cross readers for our 12 noon Good Friday stations. We also need several volunteers for our in-home overnight vigil for Maundy Thursday. Sign up for the vigil in the Parish Hall.
Good Friday Confession
(Rite of Reconciliation):
A reminder that Father Brian is available for private Confession on Good Friday from 9-11 am and after Stations until 2 pm. Sign up in the Parish Hall. Simply place an “X” by any available appointment time so he knows when to expect someone. When you arrive, enter through the Library and simply wait until Father Brian is ready for you. After Confession, exit through the Office Administration door. It’s simple and private.
Fred Stimson birthday cards.
Fred’s birthday is Wednesday April 1. Father Brian will be bringing him Communion on that day and is offering to bring any and all cards from parishioners to Fred for us. If you’d like to have Father Brian deliver a card, just bring it to church on Sunday. We will have a basket ready to collect them as you enter the church.
Charter Email account holders- This email is being routed through Jeff Rodriguez’s office, since currently we are experiencing another problem with being able to send church emails directly to you. Please pick up a volunteer schedule in the Parish Hall. Readers please note: Check for you weekly reading assignments by going to the Lectionary webpage; www.lectionarypage.net The address also appears in your parish phone directory. Leonard Kohout is trying quite hard to see how Charter can rectify the problem. In the meantime, your patience is greatly appreciated.
Maundy Thursday Dinner and Service- April 2. As is our tradition here at St. Paul’s, Vestry will host a Maundy Thursday dinner at 6 pm on April 2nd, followed by a Holy Eucharist service at 7 pm. The Rev. Donna Ross has graciously agreed to give the homily. Hope to see you there.
Easter Services this year are at 7 am & 9:30 am; both will be held in the sanctuary. The 9:30 service will include special music by the St. Paul’s Choir and the Burnished Brass Quartet. After the 9:30 am service, we will hold an Easter bonnet & hat contest for women and men. Prizes will be awarded, 1 of which is courtesy of “The Place” clothing store.
Celebration of a New Ministry.
Please join us on Sunday, April 26 at 4 pm as Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves leads us in a very special service: The Celebration of a New Ministry, to officially welcome Father Brian as our Parish Priest. Please find attached the complete flyer with all the details. Some parishioners have already inquired about gifts. Anyone wishing to, can make an offering to St. Paul’s, Memo line: Discretionary Fund. Thanks for the interest.
Pastoral Emergencies: Until we come up with a better plan, in the event of a pastoral emergency, please call the office 927-3239 or, when the office is closed, call Father Brian on his cell: 310 913.0386.
Attention St. Paul’s volunteer gardeners: Please note that due to a group from Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church using our labyrinth for a private event on April 18, the lower garden areas will not be available for maintenance between 11:10 am and 1:40 pm. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO! Our grounds are a real treasure to have and so are our gardening angels.
Have a meaningful Holy Week…
Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
