Dear Church Family.
Here are your updates for February 26 through March 5, 2015:
This Sunday will mark the beginning of Fr. Brian Palmer's ministry with us. The coming of a new Priest to a Parish is one of the most significant events in the life of a Parish. This is indeed a time of celebration, even during Lent! Fr. Brian is already with us having moved in this week (thanks again Betty Malone) and has participated in several recent services/events, including the Sunday services on February 15th, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Ash Wednesday. I want to thank everyone for your patience, your willingness to volunteer in so many ways and your prayers as we have moved through the transition time since last September. Please mark your calendars for Sunday, April 26th at 4:00 PM for the official Celebration of a New Ministry for Fr. Brian with Bishop Mary joining us.
I especially want to thank Pastor Don and Michelle who have been our anchors during these months. If there was an award for "Most Self-Reliant Parish", I think St. Paul's would win.
Our new Vestry and Fr. Brian will be holding our Vestry Retreat on Monday March 9th in the Library. This is a time for reflection and for addressing the spiritual and material needs of the Parish for the coming year. Please contact me (924-1776; firstname.lastname@example.org), Fr. Brian or any member of the Vestry if you have thoughts or suggestions to offer. Blessings to all. Julian Crocker, Senior Warden.
On Sunday, March 1- LAST CHANCE SUNDAY for monthly food donations. Father Brian will celebrate the Eucharist with us at our 9:30 am service, after which all are invited to the parish hall for our monthly birthday celebration. Music team also meets after the service.
Tuesday, March 3-Grief Group meets in the Library, 10:00 am.
Wednesday, March 4-Evening Prayer with Stevely Anderson, followed by our 2nd Soup Supper. YUM! (Many thanks to Georgianne Jackson for the AWESOME soup last night!)
Thursday, March 5- Monthly food distribution at Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Bagging begins at 2:15 pm.
Easter Service tributes/offerings- Forms are now found inside your Sunday bulletins for making donations toward Easter flowers or music. Speaking of music, the Burnished Brass musicians have graciously agreed to significantly reduce their fees this year because of our budgetary constraints. Good news all around!
Volunteer schedules for Holy Week, Easter, and to mid-May will be formulated within the next 14 days, so please send any “unavailable” days to me if you are an
8 am volunteer, and to Carol Schutz and me, if you are a 10:30 am volunteer. This year we will not be holding an Easter Vigil service on the Saturday evening before Easter, so there will be a slightly less busy schedule this Holy Week.
Finally- Julian Crocker’s leadership and guidance during our transitional phase is something for which I know we are all thankful. And personally speaking, I am grateful for all of his support during this very busy time in the office! Thanks, Julian! -Michelle
