A whirlwind week around here, and lots of news to share. Here are your updates:
Prayers please, for Phyllis Golowka who fell and broke some ribs earlier this week. She is now resting at San Luis Transitional Care (aka Cambria-south) and will probably end up being roomies with Lou Ann Carter. Please keep both Phyllis and Lou Ann in your prayers as their bodies progress through the healing process.
Speaking of recovering, Julian Crocker is back home after shoulder surgery earlier this week. No unexpected surprises, and so we hope that means a positive recovery process. Please keep Julian in your prayers.
More on medical procedures/surgery: There is no news yet on how Father Brian is doing after today’s procedure, but he knows he is being kept in our prayers at home and during services.
Calendar items: Grief Group meets next Tuesday at 10 am; Vestry meets at 9:30 on Wednesday.
The schedule for the next 2 months has been developed and formatted, and publishes tomorrow. Unfortunately, it is too late to make changes before the schedule publishes, so, as always, please make sure to find a sub if you find that you cannot serve. In the meantime, here is a heads-up on who is serving on February 1st at 9:30 am: Acolyte/ Chalice: Stevely Anderson, Connie Gannon, Reader/Intercessor; Healing Prayers: Carol Schutz and Usher Frank Schutz
Polish up those reading glasses, because on January 25, the 2014 Annual Report will be distributed, during our Annual Meeting after the 9:30 am service! (Woo-hoo..it’s done!) Thank you Joni Michel for organizing the refreshments for the meeting. So everyone, “Be there or be square!” J
Attention Ushers: Please remember to enter the attendance in the church register. For the 2014 Year Parochial report that is sent back east and to the diocese, I must report attendance stats, and really need those figures. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!
Time and Talent Cards: I will be reviewing the Time and Talent cards next week, so if anyone signed up for a new program or volunteer opportunity and hasn’t heard from me yet, don’t worry, you will hear soon. Thanks!
Harmony Hike for January! (Led by The Rev. Barbara Miller) A Harmony Hike is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2015 on the Montana de Oro Bluff Trail. Meet at the trail parking area at 12:45pm; walk begins promptly at 1pm. All ages are welcome. The easy trail is about a 3.5 miles round trip with very little elevation change. The walk includes stopping at several points along the way to listen to scripture, reflect silently, then receive Communion overlooking the ocean. Directions to the Bluff Trail parking area can be found at http://www.hikespeak.com/trails/montana-de-oro-bluff-trail . If you have any questions please call Barbara Miller at 805-712-0650.
Finally, on Monday we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and his work as a peaceful advocate of civil rights for all. Enjoy “Let there be peace on earth”, sung by the Harlem Boys’ Choir:
Peace be with you!
