Greetings on this windy day. I feel like Dorothy in Kansas just before the tornado! Here are your updates for the week…peace to you and yours. -Michelle

Singin’ on Saturday: Choir practice will be held on Saturday this week, after Cookie Outreach, at 11:30 am in the sanctuary. No practice today (Thursday).
Ham Mystery: We are trying to determine what happened to several hams that recently disappeared from our food bins. If anyone transferred them to the distribution site for Leonard Kohout, or removed them for another well-intentioned reason, please let the office know ASAP. Thanks!
Huntley Lewis is recovering from knee surgery that she underwent earlier this week. Huntley estimates that she will be entering post-surgery rehab on Friday. Please keep her in your prayers.
Also in our prayers: Fred Stimson and Priscilla Cooper. To determine whether you are a good candidate to donate a kidney to Priscilla, please visit www.ucdonor.org
Cookie Outreach: Please have cookies to the Parish Hall at 9:30 am this coming Saturday, December 13. Many thanks to everyone who has volunteered to assemble tins and make deliveries.
Sunday, December 14: Our two services will be held at 8 am and 10:30 am, with Father Carl Hansen as Celebrant. Please join us. Sunday ushers: Please help Father Carl with his microphone if he needs it. Thanks.
Also on December 14th ( 7 pm) St. James in Paso will hold a Blue Christmas service. For many people, Christmas is not a time of joy, for a variety of reasons: loss from death, divorce, or perhaps memories of a painful past. This quiet service will recognize the “blueness” of these experiences. Officiating will be Deacon Jackie Sebro, with Becky Breckow on piano.
A Christmas Tree for All of Thee! Those wishing to help decorate our sanctuary’s tree should come help at 2 pm, December 21st. Please let Joni Michel know if you are planning to attend: 927-7608.
Christmas Eve: Many thanks to Alva Jahnes-Smith who has volunteered to serve as our 2nd torchbearer on Christmas Eve. We are still in need of a 2nd usher for that service, so please contact the office ASAP if you’re able to serve. You need not be a year-round usher to help out; this opportunity is also open to our seasonal or occasional ushers.
It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas: The ladies of the church had a great Christmas potluck earlier this week…lots of laughing and chatting over wonderful luncheon dishes. Special thanks to event organizers Carol Schutz and Joni Michel, as well as to Dan and Sara Blair Field who once again sang and strummed carols for the sing-along. Thanks to everyone who made the luncheon so festive and fun!
“Good things come to those who wait.” Several have called inquiring about the priest-in-charge selection process. Rest assured that when there is a decision, your Senior Warden and Vestry will communicate that to everyone. In the meantime, please keep Vestry in your prayers as they travel through the process.
