The weather is warm…but there is a promise of rain for the weekend. The combination is sure to bring the crocus out early, I think. We have both good news and sad news in the life of our parish. Here are your updates for the next several days. They include important information for events scheduled in early December.
Shanna Knorr has passed. Shanna passed away Monday, November 24. Per her request, there will be no service, although something less formal may take place in 2015. Please keep Shanna and her family in your prayers.
Sunday, November 30: First Sunday of Advent-
-Sunday Advent wreath readers…please remember your text when you leave for church, as they will not be on the lectern.
-Last Chance Sunday for the monthly food distribution program-non perishables only, please.
-If you haven’t already done so, it would be a great time to turn in your 2015 pledge cards.
Priscilla Cooper needs a kidney transplant:
-Please visit www.ucdonor.org to learn how you can help or if you might be a match. Lesley Hochschild revealed in church last week that she donated one of her two kidneys years ago, without any negative consequences-so check out the info and also pass the word to others. And of course, both Priscilla and Rex could really use our prayers.
Advent Meditation Series “Listening to the Word”, starts this coming Monday, December 1st, 1:30 pm in the Library/Chapel. Please be on time.
-An important update/reminder from Donna Ross: It will be helpful for everyone to arrive on time, so our listening to the Word can be fruitful. We'll begin our time together with brief introductions - to each other and then to the prophet Isaiah. Then we'll begin a time of quiet meditation, getting ready to listen to the Word: From ages past no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God beside you, who works for those who wait for him. -Isaiah 64:1f
Sanctuary/Library: Please call Michelle before scheduling additional (extended) choir time, repairs, or other activities in the sanctuary December 1-5. The Library room is also off limits for meetings Monday and Thursday until noon-ish. Thanks. (Choir will still meet at their usual 1:30 pm time on Thursday.)
Volunteer Schedules are nearly completed. Until they publish, please note the following assignments for Sunday, December 7th:

PLEASE HAVE ALL COOKIES TO THE PARISH HALL @ 9:30 AM.
