It was discovered this week that emails sent out of this office last Thursday were never received by many of our members. I am forwarding the entire message to you with a few additional bits of info for this week added above last week’s.
Sympathy and Prayers:
Heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out this week to Mary Brockman, whose dearly loved nephew Joseph Trigg Mosby passed away last week.
Volunteer update for Saturday Nov 1:
The time for the Saturday All Saints’ service in the Memorial Garden is now scheduled for 1 pm. We now have a Crucifer-thanks Stevely! Don would also like to have 1-2 readers, 1-2 torchbearers and an usher for this service. This prayer service will require no chairs for set up, ushers so that is good news.
From Don Dallmann:
“You are invited to submit to Michelle in the church office names of departed (no more than a few) with relationships in parenthesis, to be remembered before the altar at the Sunday All Saints’ service.” Example: Bernhard Dallmann (Don’s father). PS from Michelle: I can accept those names through Wed Oct 22. I can also accept free standing frames (with names on back) until October 28.
Coin cups and Giving Thanks Sunday:
A coin can is in the Parish Hall where you are invited to put your loose change. Most of you also have coin cups for collecting at home. If you don’t have a coin cup, please contact Leonard Kohout to get one:203-5187. All of the “Change for change” will be offered on Sunday, November 23, also known as Giving Thanks Sunday.
Stewardship Pie Social:
November 16 We will kick off this year’s Stewardship Campaign on Sunday, November 16. WE WILL HOLD ONE SERVICE ONLY ON THAT DAY, AT 9:30 AM.
Here are your updates for this week. Enjoy the cooler weather! Reminder: the office closes at noon today for a Parish Administrators’ meeting in SLO.
Sunday Oct 12:
Father Carl Hansen will celebrate the HE at 2 services: 8 am and 10:30 am. Ushers, please be there early enough to help Father Carl with his microphone and access to the church. Thanks!
Convention Delegates Needed!
We have no delegates for the Convention scheduled for November 14 and 15. Please let Julian Crocker or me know ASAP whether you can serve in this capacity.
Saturday Nov 1:
Volunteers needed ASAP for Prayer Service! Pastor Don has added a new service to the worship offerings for All Saints’ weekend. In addition to the 9:30 am All Saints Sunday service, we will be holding an Evening Prayer Service in our garden on Saturday, November 1. Tentative time is 5 pm. We need a crucifer, 1 to 2 readers, an usher who can also help with set-up/pack up of chairs, and one additional volunteer for setting up and tear down.
Please email me ASAP if you can serve on this date.
Search Process Update from the Senior Warden:
Our position for Priest-In-Charge has been officially closed for applications. The position was advertised for about five weeks. The Search Committee, under Betty Malone's leadership. has reviewed all applications that were received and selected five candidates to interview. The interviews will be held during the next several weeks. Please keep the Committee in your prayers and a huge "Thank You" to them for this very important work. Julian Crocker, Sr. Warden
Scarecrow stolen! Yesterday our Lady Gaga scarecrow was stolen from in front of our home on Randall Drive. This was a 2 month project completed with the help of our Italian exchange student and our granddaughter, so needless to say, I am very sad. The investigating deputy says that the suspect probably plans to steal several more, perhaps several times before the end of Scarecrow Season. So, we are headed to the Nipomo Swap Meet this weekend to see if she ends up there (his suggestion). SO…lock up your scarecrows and keep your eyes open for a gold VW van (mid-90’s) with that square-ish type body. Caucasian male adult, apprx 6 ft tall with a thin to medium build and light hair on the longish side. Contact the Sheriff’s Office at 781-4550 if you see someone matching this description, especially if they are acting suspiciously. Case # 1410- 07969 Call me if you see my scarecrow anywhere! 459-7582 or 459-8721. Here she is: Lady Gaga wearing a white toga, white feather headdress, felt marker tattoos on the upper arms, pink bling “G” on a white belt, holding a CD in her hand and being supported possibly by a green Christmas tree stand. Thanks for keeping an eye out!
