Dear Church Family,
As the year winds down, the office is winding up with preparations for the Annual Stewardship campaign, Annual Report and other activities underway. Here are some important dates and activities to follow in the coming weeks, as well as some news in the life our church and extended church family:
Our love and condolences to Theresa Desmond, a member of our extended church family, whose mother, Rosie Villegas, passed away last week. Please keep Rosie, Theresa, Allan and the Villegas family in your prayers.
Sunday, October 26: Two services are offered: 8 am and 10:30 am. This is one of two remaining Sundays on which parishioners can donate to our food program before the November distribution date. Please keep in mind that the monthly distribution on November 6 will be the only one we support prior to Thanksgiving later in November.
Saturday, November 1st, 1:00 pm: All Saints’ Day prayer service w/ Rite of the Commemoration of the Dead in the Memorial Garden.
Don is still looking for a Lector to read.
Sunday, November 2, 9:30 am: All Saints’ Sunday w/ Rite of the Commemoration of the Dead and Holy Eucharist; followed by our monthly birthday celebration. This is also Last Chance Sunday for November’s food donations.
November 14 and 15- Diocesan Convention, Salinas: We need delegates. Please let the office know ASAP if you can attend!
November 16-Stewardship Pie Social: Our Stewardship season begins November 16 when parishioners will receive their packets, and will conclude on Sunday, December 7th, by which time we hope to have all Year 2015 pledges returned.
November 23- Giving Thanks Sunday: Please bring your coin cups to empty into our Outreach treasure chest during the service. Outreach will see that the money goes to programs focusing on ending hunger.
Bill Baker’s latest play promotion: Boeing Boeing, runs through November 9 at the Cambria Center for the Arts (Old Grammar School) Theater. We are not organizing a group trip, but the staff has always been so accommodating with discounting tickets for us in the past, that we thought it would be nice to mention their latest production here. More info on the Parish Hall bulletin board.
Annual Report- Reports due soon. Chairs of church committees or programs, as well as all traditional reporters, please start developing your articles for the annual report. The more specific you can be with your figures, whether they be the number/name of organizations your team sponsored, how many people participated in a particular activity, how many Sunday services your group set up for, etc, that would be appreciated because it makes for more interesting reading. More info on this later.
Prayer in time of drought: (Stevely Anderson submitted this very timely prayer about drought. Thank you Stevely.)
May God open the heavens and let God’s mercy rain down upon our fields and mountains.
Let us especially pray for those most impacted by water shortages and for the wisdom and charity to be good stewards of this precious gift.
May our political leaders seek the common good as we learn to care for, and share, God’s gift of water for the good of all. Amen.
Website Additions: Check out the videos (especially those listed under Little Bits/Recent Events on the menu bar) that our new webmaster, Leonard Kohout now has online, and prepare to be impressed! Thanks, Leonard! http://www.stpaulscambria.org/
