Thursday August 7
Dear Church Family,
Here are your updates for the week:
It’s a banner day! Is anyone planning on attending the ordination of Barbara Miller? She is requesting that she be able to display our banner at the service, but at this time, we have no one going her way anytime soon to deliver it to her. Please let me know ASAP if you plan to attend. Perhaps you can deliver the banner to her for us. (Don’t worry…you won’t need to carry it into the church; it will simply be displayed in the sanctuary of the church.) You can also contact Lou Ann Carter for more info.
Blessing of the Animals will take place this Sunday, August 10 at 12:15 pm in the area of the Labyrinth/Garden overlook. Please leash dogs and cage cats for the safety and comfortable of all attending. Thank you!
Attention Bookworms. Father Fred has decided that he must begin packing up the surplus books after next Wednesday (8/13), so if you want to check out his titles for your own libraries, please drop by next Tuesday or Wednesday.
Outreach Sunday Coin Cups: Change for Change. Your change can help affect change in those who are hungry, homeless or are facing other social challenges. Look in the bulletins or in the weekly updates for more information in the next 2-3 months about when the Outreach Committee may bring the Giving Chest back during a Sunday service. (Don’t worry, it won’t be any time soon!)
Reservations are now being sold to the Parish Dinner honoring Father Fred, scheduled for Thursday, Sept 11. Reservations/dinner costs $35.00 per person, and Joni Michel has selected a menu that is sure to please everyone: Dual entrée of steak and chicken, baked potato, salad, lemon or chocolate mousse and coffee or tea to drink. Tickets are limited, so please purchase your seat early for this great night in San Simeon at the Cavalier Inn.
Many thanks to Leonard Kohout who has assumed responsibility for our webpage, taking over the position previously occupied by Adair Heard, who gave us 5 wonderful, creative years of service building a site that was user friendly and interesting. Thanks, Leonard, and thanks, Adair!
Volunteer Schedules: Schedules for September, October and possibly November, will be developed in the next 10 days, so if you have “unavailable” dates to report, please do so ASAP. Thanks.
Scrubbing Bubbles Troubles: I have done my best to take care of housekeeping essentials this week while our sexton is on vacation. Father Fred even pitched in with the vacuuming of the sanctuary and changing a very hard to reach light bulb, SO…. If things don’t sparkle as bright as usual, please be patient. Cleaning staff will return next week.
Have a wonderful weekend in our village.
