Dear Church Family,
It was another glorious day here today, and lots of activity occurring all week long!!!!!!!!!!!!
-The Bishop is coming…the Bishop is coming! (And we’re delighted she is!)
Barbara Hagiwara and her gardening angels have been busy watering, trimming and in general, making our lovely campus even lovelier for our Bishop’s visit and the blessings that will occur, both in the Memorial Garden and inside the chapel as well. Please try to attend our very special 9:30 am service with Bishop Mary this Sunday, as well as the blessings, and Bishop’s reception which follows the blessings. Many thanks to Frank Schutz who did an awesome job on the memorial plaque’s installation, Bruce Wong who built the memorial plot covering, as well as to Joni Michel who has returned from Colorado just in time to organize the reception. This Sunday is also Last Chance Sunday for the monthly food program.
-FYI , This week… Bill Baker was diagnosed with a type of shingles, and Priscilla Cooper underwent hip surgery today as a result of a fall that occurred last weekend. No word on how the surgery went at the time of this writing. I am sure both would appreciate your messages of cheer and prayers.
-Book’em Dano! Father Fred has gone through his collection of books, has sorted which he will take with him, and is offering the others to parishioners for their home libraries. If you wish to peruse his titles and select any books for yourself, his office shelves will be accessible on Tuesday morning (August 5 and August 12) from 9 am to 1:00 pm, and next Thursday afternoon (August 7th) from 12:30 pm to 4 pm. If possible, please let me know when you’d like to arrive, so that we don’t end up with several people at once in his small office, if we can help it. (Please note: His shelves will not be available Thursday afternoon, August 14. Also, not all books are for the taking so I need to be there to explain how you identify the available books.)
-Sunday, August 10 : Father Fred will hold his last Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, August 10 after the 10:30 service. Please join him at the Garden overlook in the lowest parking area. Dogs must be leashed and cats caged. Hope to see Lucy, Mikey and some of our newest 4-legged parishioners there.
.-Rector’s Dinner: We hope to have the payment/reservation process finalized next week, so check your August 10 bulletin and/or next week’s updates for further information.
-In honor of my delightful Italian exchange student Vittoria who returned home Monday, Chiao!
