Dear Church Family,
Some important news in the life of our parish…..
Sanctuary Burglary: Today we discovered that we had experienced an “unforced entry” burglary in the past couple of days. Several silver plated communion and altar items were taken and it appears that a small area on Father Fred’s alb received smoke and burn damage. It is believed that perhaps a door was not completely secured and the thief was able to reopen it. The intruder left a cigarette butt in the sacristy sink. Though this incident is very disturbing, damage could have been far worse, had the responsible party had the desire or time to set fire to the sanctuary. We ask that everyone take extra caution when exiting the sanctuary to make sure all doors and windows are completely closed and locked. Anyone who loses their keys should report the loss to the office ASAP. ATTENTION USHERS: PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CAUTION AFTER THE SERVICES AND IMMEDIATELY LOCK ALL DOORS. The sanctuary should not be left open between services.
In a warm gesture of kindness, Father Mark of Santa Rosa Catholic Church has offered to loan us the items we may need until ours can be replaced. Altar Guild- if any member of Altar Guild placed a votive candle on the counter in the sanctuary sometime in the last several days, please notify the office ASAP.
This incident was a “wake up call” that reminds us that we must be diligent about building security at all times.
Screening Committee-Invitation to Serve: Please find attached an important letter from Senior Warden Julian Crocker.
Preparation for Worship-Cooperation and courtesy requested at all services: In keeping with Episcopal tradition, please use the time before the service and during the musical prelude as an opportunity for quiet meditation and reflection. The visiting that has been occurring before the services has begun to impact some parishioners’ attempts to prepare their hearts for worship. Many thanks for your cooperation.
Overnight Vigil- Need to fill one final vacant shift: One of our volunteers had to switch their time slots to the 11 pm slot, so we are now looking for someone to fill the 9:15 pm-10:pm time slot on Maundy Thursday evening, April 17th. Please let the office know ASAP if you can take this shift.
Labyrinth Event-April 12th 12:30-3:30 pm. RSVP’s are now being taken for the “Walking with Hope” Labyrinth event, hosted by St. Paul’s Labyrinth Team and led by The Rev. Donna Ross. Activities include meditation, art, journaling, the labyrinth walk and light refreshments. Please call the church office ASAP to reserve your spot.
Volunteer schedules: If you find that you have accidentally deleted the March-May volunteer schedule sent a few weeks ago, a few printed copies are available below the bulletin boards in the parish hall. I am also able to resend the documents electronically. Just give me a call.
Easter early birds: This year we received a few checks toward Easter flowers or music prior to the tribute forms being made available. If you were one of those generous folks who did not complete a tribute form while making your donation toward the Easter flowers or music, please submit the form by April 6th and just note on it that the actual offering was previously made. Bouquets of thanks!
Moms update: Thanks to all who have expressed concern about Jeff’s mom and mine. My mom is in a skilled nursing and rehab center for a 3 week stay while she recuperates from her severe fall, and Jeff’s mom is now home with skilled care after a 6 day hospital stay for a severe intestinal infection. Last week was a doozy, for sure! Thanks to all for your understanding during last Tuesday’s emergency office closure.
It rained today! What a blessing!
